This can be a very difficult time, and it is important to make sure you remain financially secure until you can figure out where your next paycheck is going to come from. Don’t worry; you will get a new job at some point. However, here are some tips (some fun, but all useful) to try to help you save money until then. 

The most important thing to remember is that ultimately you need to decide for yourself what you will and will not miss in your life. What are the luxuries that you can do without, and what are the things that will make you feel as though your quality of life has significantly changed? If you really feel like you are missing out, you will be much less likely to effectively budget. So, pick and choose for yourself, but be willing to do without some of your “extras.”

1. Start shopping wholesale (e.g. Sam’s Club, Costco, etc.).
2. Skip the morning Starbucks and have your coffee at home.  You could try experimenting with your own flavors.
3. Get a grocery store saver "club" card and start paying attention to in-store sales.
4. Carpool.
5. Come up with a price level for each meal and base your shopping budget on that.
